Maserati 250F 1954 - 1958
The Maserati 250 F is regarded as one of the most successful and enduring Formula 1 cars in Grand Prix history. Maserati originally designed the car for private racing teams (known as privateers). Since these teams often had limited financial and technical resources, the car was built with simplicity and ease of maintenance in mind.
Initially, the car was designated 6C2500, but after the first test drives, it was officially renamed 250 F — with “250” referring to the 2500 cm³ engine displacement and “F” standing for “Formula.” The 250 F was technically based on the Maserati A6GCM. Of the 33 examples built in total, five were derived or converted from the A6GCM model. Twenty-two cars were newly constructed as 250 Fs, while six others were rebuilt from existing vehicles and simply renumbered.
