The Riley One-Point-Five (often written as 1.5) is a classic example of British "badge engineering" at its most charming. Produced from 1957 to 1965, it was the more luxurious and sporting variant of the immensely popular Morris Minor 1000. It shared the Minor's fundamental chassis and drivetrain but was distinguished by a classic Riley radiator grille, a more upmarket interior, and a more powerful engine.

1. Manufacturing

The manufacturing of the Riley 1.5 was a key project under the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its strategy of using a common platform for multiple marques. This allowed BMC to target different market segments (from basic to premium) without the cost of developing entirely new cars.

Platform & Body: The car was built on the robust and innovative platform of the Morris Minor 1000 (Series II).
