Jensen Interceptor

The Jensen Interceptor is a British luxury GT car produced from 1966 to 1976. It is best known for combining elegant, Vignale-designed bodywork with the raw power of American Chrysler V8 engines. Over its production run, various engines were offered - from the 6.3-litre (383 cui) to the 7.2-litre (440 cui) big-block all sending power to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. It is widely regarded as the ultimate British muscle car with Italian styling.
The Brake System

For its time, the Jensen Interceptor was equipped with a powerful yet characterful braking system. The key features are:

Four-wheel disc brakes: The Interceptor came standard with hydraulic disc brakes on all four wheels.

Servo assistance: The system was supported by a vacuum brake servo booster to reduce the required pedal effort.

Manufacturers and design: The brake components were sourced from various suppliers, including Girling or Dunlop. The front brake discs were internally ventilated (vented discs), while the rear ones were solid discs. The front disc diameter was approximately 272 mm.

Over the years, technical changes occurred. While early models (Mk I) still used Dunlop brakes, later vehicles increasingly featured systems from Girling. Today, the brake system is a common point of upgrade, as it is considered a weak spot on this nearly two-tonne car
